ALTEINO
The ALTEINO experiment is devoted to the investigation of the Light Flashes phenomena and the study of the radiation environment inside the ISS; the experimental apparatus consists of a cosmic ray detector (AST-Advanced Silicon Telescope) and an electroencephalograph (EEG) used to correlate the LF perceptions with brain electrophysiological activity. ALTEINO was installed on board the ISS on April 2002 during the Soyuz-34 flight mission: LF measurement sessions were performed by the Italian cosmonaut R. Vittori.
CAEN Aerospace, in collaboration with INFN Roma 2, has developed the read-out boards for the cosmic ray silicon detector.
